| ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHY Stefan Lundgren prefers to work with many different film sizes for different situations and subject matter. For his Arctic and Antarctic images on this site, he prefers the flexibility of 35mm so he can interact quickly with a constantly moving subject. And with new advances in printing technology, he now feels proud to offer his 35mm images as prints up to 16x24. For his images of the American Southwest, he uses 6x7, 6x12, 6x17, and 4x5 film sizes, which allow him to print much larger prints at a superior quality. ABOUT THE PRINTS Our limited edition images are printed using the latest state-of-the-art technology plus old-fashioned hands-on human savvy. The process starts when the original transparency is scanned into a Heidelberg Tango drum scanner that is updated with Newcolor 7000 to be equivalent to Primescan. The resulting digital image file is moved to Mac workstations where the master printer and photographer collaborate to make final color and contrast corrections. This is where technology meets printing experience and artistic imagination. The final digital image is transferred to a Chromina printer, which uses RGB LEDs to expose the prints. The printer then prints onto Fuji FAS Crystal Archive RC Color Gloss Paper. This combination of technology, experience and imagination results in higher quality, longer lasting, fine prints that Stefan is proud to present. ABOUT THE FRAMING Our limited edition prints have been framed as the photographer has envisioned for his exhibition. Museum acid-free conservation mounts and mats are used. The double mats are script white and silver gray rag. The frames are brushed metal: aluminum for the Arctic and Antarctica, and light copper for the Southwest. |
